About Us

Molana is a platform for Persian-speaking professionals living outside their country of origin. We are a non-political and non-religious organisation with our initial base of operations in the Netherlands.

Persian-speakers have a long tradition of conducting business, as we have been a driving force in international trade and commerce throughout history. We aim to build on that tradition by employing our strengths as a community.

In the spirit of the poet Molana we embrace cooperation across geographical and racial borders. This world-renowned poet has a deep connection to the three Persian-speaking nations of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Similarly, our primary focus is on individuals of Iranian, Afghan and Tajik heritage. Leveraging on our historical, cultural and lingual ties we aim to build a strong and vibrant professional community that will benefit us and society at large. In the words of Molana:

A wall standing alone is useless, but put three or four walls together, and they’ll support a roof and keep grain dry and safe.

Mission

Molana operates in the space where social and professional issues meet. We aim to support our community with a fourfold mission:

to serve as a bridge for Persian-speaking professionals in establishing and maintaining professional ties
to foster an environment of open discussion and to generate valuable knowledge to benefit our community
to strengthen the professional culture of the Persian-speaking community and to stimulate leadership
to better enable our community to conduct business and undertake joint projects
